Are outdoor cats happier than indoor cats? 🐈⬛ 🏠 🌾
And we answer all your cat questions.
What’s up THINGERS.
It’s time… After we dropped our Are suburban dogs happier than city dogs? episode last year, many of the cat lovers have been flooding our inbox asking when we’d get the cat version. Well, fret no longer — your time has come.

(Apple, Spotify, YouTube, Others)
For the occasion, we brought in Kate Lindsay — ICYMI host, Embedded author, and proud cat lover — to sit in for Manny as we go deep on everything you’ve ever wanted to know about your cat. We’re joined by Dr. Mikel Delgado, a cat behaviorist, scientist, and author of Play With Your Cat!
We’re going to go live on Substack Friday at 10 am ET to chat through our favorite cat facts with Kate and discuss some learnings that didn’t make it into the episode. So tap in.
If you haven’t already, check out Kate’s first appearance on NST:
Some other business… Last week we had Lilly Kaplan — who you may remember from the Do you need therapy? episode — in the studio for another upcoming episode. We had some extra time so we recorded a mini part two to our What happened to Kanye West? episode. We react to his WSJ apology ad, and Lilly breaks down bipolar I disorder.
And check out this interview friend of the pod Justin Maiman did with Ocean Vuong on Ocean’s new photography show at CPW Kingston. So many gems in this one, including “If I’m brave enough to press the shutter, the camera says yes, even when I say maybe.” Ocean is one of my favorite authors, and it’s always a pleasure to hear him talk about his process.
Last, but certainly NOT least, we’re working on an episode about WORK. Does micromanaging actually work? What’s the best way to ask for a raise? We need your job-related questions. Email us at mannynoahdevan@gmail.com or leave a voicemail at (860) 325-0286.
Follow us on Instagram and if you like the show, leave us a 5-star review and tell us which episode is your all-time fave! See yah next week.

Interesting framing on the happiness question. The indoor vs outdoor debate usually centers on safety metrics, but asking about cat happiness shifts the whole convo. I wonder if measuring happiness in cats is even possibel or if we're just projecting human preferences onto them. The enrichment angle probably matters way more than location itself.
I just got to the part about being picky. I have a cat that will not eat any thing fish or seafood flavored. He's broken.
