Interesting framing on the happiness question. The indoor vs outdoor debate usually centers on safety metrics, but asking about cat happiness shifts the whole convo. I wonder if measuring happiness in cats is even possibel or if we're just projecting human preferences onto them. The enrichment angle probably matters way more than location itself.

I just got to the part about being picky. I have a cat that will not eat any thing fish or seafood flavored. He's broken.

I love this animal mini-series. Wish you or your expert had said SOMETHING about how devastating outdoor cats are to wild bird populations though. Cat “happiness” doesn’t feel that weighty compared with imminent species annihilation of a lot of migratory birds which cat populations contribute to. Keep your cats from hunting birds please!!!!!!

We did go longer on bird deaths but I had to cut it for time! I knew it was a large number but was shocked it was over a billion a year. https://www.nature.com/articles/ncomms2380
