Thanks for this episode ... I thought it was one of your best. I used to be a pretty big Kanye fan but then went completely cold turkey before TLOP came out and have intentionally not listened to any of his music, even the old stuff, since then. It's interesting comparing him to an artist like Michael Jackson - I'll still hear MJ songs fairly regularly (still played at weddings, for instance) but Kanye is pretty much gone, as far as I've observed.

His first two albums came out at such a seminal time in my life, right when I was graduating from college and then moving back home and starting my first job. I was really unhappy and adrift and those albums provided the escape I was looking for. I listened to them CONSTANTLY. Now it's been 20+ years and I haven't reflected on that time in a long while. And I'd like to listen to the albums again, if only for nostalgia's sake, but I guess I feel bad about doing so.

TYSM Mark! It’s interesting because I’ve encountered a lot of DJs still playing his old stuff (pre-downfall) when I’ve been out. NGL I still listen to the old stuff, not as much as I used to, but that music still holds a special place in my heart. And I have so many memories of it with my friends/family etc. that at this point it feels so far removed from the NEW kanye.
