Why do divorced guys act like THAT?
And what happens to your brain after a breakup.
THINGERS!
This week, Noah is on vacation, so we’re joined by Max Tani — long-time friend of the pod, Semafor media reporter, and Mixed Signals co-host — to unpack DGE (Divorced Guy Energy). From real-life divorced guys like Justin Trudeau and Kanye West to fictional characters like Breaking Bad’s Walter White, we explore what psychology, perceptions, and social expectations can tell us about how men change after divorce.
(Apple, Spotify, YouTube, Others)
Our guests this week are psychologist and YouTuber Maika Steinborn and sociologist Jessica Calarco, author of Holding It Together: How Women Became America’s Safety Net, we dig into the science, sociology, and cultural forces behind divorce, masculinity, and midlife reinvention.
Who are your favorite divorced guys? Do you think DGE is real? Email us at mannynoahdevan@gmail.com or leave a voicemail at (860) 325-0286.
And lastly, if you’re a fan of the show, please leave us a five-star rating wherever you listen to podcasts and write a nice review! See yah next week.

I'm interested to know if divorced guy energy is a thing when it is the man who initiated the divorce. My uncle left my auntie, and I'm assuming he had wanted to for quite a while, and whilst he didn't do the divorced guy thing, my auntie definitely went the stereotype of angry, bitter woman. Years later, he has remarried, yet she is still a bitter person.
