This was so thoughtful and balanced. I appreciate your genuine open-mindedness so much. I’m non-religious but married to the exact type of millennial who returned to church as an adult after being raised “Christian-ish” and is having a very positive experience with it. Two factors I think make a big difference that are particularly relevant to what y’all said about raising kids (I have a toddler): the service/giving back component is HUGE in terms of what is rewarding about religion and you can totally achieve that sans church. Secondly, as is featured on the episode, don’t sleep on the simple joy of singing with people! About 90% of the joy I find when I go with my spouse to church is just singing in a group. Communal music rules.

My impression from the outside is that religion is a lot like alcohol. It can make you happier and friendlier or it can make you angrier and meaner.
loved this ep as a now non-religious former youth group kid who has really been noticing and missing the absence of spirituality in my adult life.
(also I hate to be this person but this photo is josh o’connor as a priest in Emma, not the new Knives Out ☝️🤓)
I am listening and learning and updating the caption — we regret the error, thanks!!
